OUR POLICIES

CHILD SAFETY

Here at Soraya McKee Dance Society, the safety and well-being of every child is our top priority.

We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow, learn, and express themselves through dance.

Our policies are designed to ensure that each child is supervised at all times, both in class and during any period spent inside the doors of our studio.

All instructors and staff undergo thorough background checks and are trained in child safety protocols, including first aid and emergency response procedures.

All instructors and staff hold a valid Working With Children’s Check.

We maintain a secure facility with controlled access, and we have clear guidelines for drop-off and pick-up to ensure that children are only released to authorized individuals.

We ask for all students under the age of 13 to be collected at the conclusion of class by a parent or guardian inside within our foyer to ensure a safe pick up.

Our facility is equipped with video surveillance for the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. This monitoring helps ensure a safe and protected environment at all times.

In addition, we foster open communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and any concerns related to safety or well-being. Our Society promotes positive and respectful behaviour, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying or inappropriate conduct.

If bullying behaviour is reported, both the child involved and their parent or guardian will be asked to meet with our owner, Soraya McKee (and possibly class instructor if applicable) to discuss the situation and determine the appropriate steps forward.

By adhering to these standards, we strive to create a supportive and secure environment where children can thrive and develop both as dancers and individuals.

ENROLMENT AGREEMENT

All previous and new families will be required to complete an Enrolment Agreement as part of the Enrolment Form, acknowledging your acceptance to our current policies and procedures.

This has been forwarded to existing families at the time of re-enrolment and will be forwarded to new families following their child’s free trial.

Any queries regarding this agreement are welcomed by SMDS administration.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENT

The SMDS uniform is designed to promote unity, our school's identity, image and safety when dancing. For this reason, please note that uniform is ABSOLUTELY COMPULSORY.

Our SMDS uniform requests are NOT OPTIONAL.

We ask that students be in uniform by mid term following enrolment, and wear black dance wear for the meantime.

If student and families can’t carry out the duty of wearing uniform or having their hair as required, students may be asked to sit out of class until uniform and hair policies are implemented.
